Objectives
Wider Objective
Project contributes to the reform of higher education in Ukraine throw implementation the education in area of Educational Measurements (according to main principles of Bologna process) in order to prepare necessary specialists for secondary and higher schools, educational autority and governmental structures, and post-diploma educational programmes to establish close links between the Universities and local educational environment and to promote rise the level of teaching and quality assurance in higher and secondary schools. Also the goal of the project is wide popularisation of ideas, essence and methods of educational measurements in Ukrainian society.
Some Project-specific objectives
Developing and updating of new advanced curricula for specialisation Educational Measurements for pedagogical specialities Mathematics, Physics and Informatics based on the use of modern methods, instruments, theories and systems for describing, interpreting and understanding of the knowledge, skills and attitudes of individuals and groups with implementation of principles of the Bologna Process including two-level education system and the European Credit Transfer System.
These will be pioneer curricula for spesialisation Educational Measurements at BA as well as at MA levels in Ukraine.
The project corresponds to the national programme priority for Ukraine "Education" in the building block "Curricular Reform".
Direct beneficiaries - Nizhyn State Mykola Gogol University (Nizhyn University), National Pedagogical Dragomanov University (NPU), Kirovograd State Pedagogical Volodymyr Vinnichenko University (Kirovograd University).
The target group: students and academic staff of Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Nizhyn University; students and academic staff of Institute of Informatics of NPU; students and academic staff of Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of Kirovograd University.
It is foreseen that new curricula and courses will be implemented not only in direct beneficiaries, but also in wide range of Ukrainian classical and pedagogical Universities.
The working methodology proposed to reach Project objectives includes: intensive using of EU University approach to training specialists in Educational Measurements and experience in implementation of new educational specialities matching professional needs of educational institutions.
New curricula will be developed in accordance with main lines of Bologna process (2 level BA and MA educational system, mutual recognition of diploma and ECTS), and for this purpose the experience of EU partners will be widely used, as well as their experience in establishing contacts with educational environment.
Project working methodology also includes: (a) realisation of activities oriented on implementation of newly developed PC-based and semi-distance education; (b) realisation of activities oriented on acquaintance of Ukrainian teachers with modern trends in Educational Measurement and quality assurance in education; (c) establishing contacts of UKR Consortium Members with educational environment for better acquaintance with professional requirements to specialists in Educational Measurements.
Teaching methodology will be based on wide use inter-active, PC-based and Internet-based distance teaching technologies: the lectures and practical studies delivered in UKR consortium members will be completed with elements of distance education. Flexible course format, i. e. training modules will be used. Also the system of student’s knowledge testing will be developed and implemented.
Project foresees the following outcomes:
1. BA curricula in specialisation Educational Measurements for pedagogical specialities Physics, Mathematics and Informatics and MA curricula in Educational Measurements, recognized by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
2. New and updated BA and MA courses in Educational Measurements with all necessary teaching materials.
3. Ability of UKR lecturers to teach new courses in Educational Measurements.
4. Web-site “Educational Measurements”, based on Learning Management System, with all necessary methodological and teaching materials in e-form.
5. Dissemination of the best Project results to wide educational community.
The Project includes dissemination activities directed on dissemination of the best project results to wide educational and business community, as well as increasing awareness in Educational Measurements and Assessment and Information technologies the teachers of secondary schools and higher educational institutions of the 1-st - 3-rd level of accreditation. The contacts of UKR Universities with secondary schools will be intensively used.
The programme of dissemination activities includes: carrying out the special methodological seminars working once a month during academic year at Nizhyn University, preparation, adaptation, translation (if necessary) and printing reports, teaching materials, methodological recommendations and delivering them through personal communications, consultation, lectures in other UKR higher educational institutions, presentations, exhibitions and publications in mass media.
Organization of three International Summer Schools “Educational Measurements: education, research and practice”, conference “Advances in Educational Measurements” are foreseen. Programmes of these events will target on lecturers, researchers, MA and PhD students of various Ukrainian Universities and other higher educational institutions, as well as representatives of various brunches of industry.
Round tables, panel discussions and book exhibitions will be also organized within framework of these dissemination events. Traditional ways of dissemination will be supplemented by modern communication resources.
The dissemination resources of Ministry of Education and Science will be widely explored.
Proper management is important condition of smooth project realization. Permanent quality control, inter-project and inter-Tempus monitoring will provide necessary quality of project outputs. Experts from EU universities and UKR Ministry of Science and Education will be intensively involved in monitoring of curricula implementation and will play a key role in quality control of didactic materials, proving its correspondence to the needs of practitioners.
